A Bad Rap- Witches/Paranormal

One of my contacts on facebook who is in the independent film industry has just thrown out an idea for a new short film documentary. The subject is women in the paranormal. I think it's a great idea but it really got me thinking.It got me thinking about what a bad rap many of us get . A bad rap(rapport) /bad rep by definition is basically getting a bad name(dishonor )from false accusations. Boy does this ring true!

I was raised Catholic and struggled for many years with my gift. I come from the era of fire and brimstone and the one way ticket to Hell Catholicism. I am by no means criticizing my religion,I just get really pissed off at "mans" interpretation of it. Many people will pick up the Bible ,read a few passages and go forward claiming they know exactly what it means,then start preaching to anyone who's view point may be a little different. Many people who I read for will ask me,"Isn't this against God ?" my answer is always the same."God is the one who made me this way."

The Media is truly a double sided sword. It can be great for any information to be found yet it can label people and things.Sometimes that labeling can be false and damaging. The problem is even if it isn't the truth,like words, once it's out there....it's out there and many times cannot be undone.Even when you look up the definition of a witch it is mostly damaging and derogatory. The only one that I see who got it right is The Urban dictionary which isn't even recognized as being legit(look it up).

There are many documentaries,movies etc.that point fingers at what is perceived as evil. It is very true that there are many who go down the road of darkness . On the other side of the coin there are many who walk the road of light.What we do is not for personal gain but for the benefit of others, Those who may be ill,destitute or lost. I for one pride myself on seeing someone I've helped thrive.I am also a witch.That's what it's all about isn't it?Helping each other. We are all a part of the Human race.

So the next time you watch a movie or television show that points a finger at a witch or claims someone is worshipping the devil ,please take the time to educate yourself . Read about the symbolism of a pentagram(upside down or otherwise). Understand that most accusations are based in fear.After all we do live in a world where information is literally at our fingertips don't we? Peace and Namaste!
